Branded merchandise design for the second annual Chattanooga Marathon
After a successful inaugural year for the Chattanooga Marathon in 2016, the Chattanooga Sports Commission approached Whiteboard to expand their merchandise offerings for the 2017 event. Having previously designed the marathon's visual identity, we were positioned to extend that brand system into a comprehensive merchandise program. The challenge was creating appealing gear that runners would actually want to wear and use, while maintaining the event's distinctive visual character. Our approach built on the established visual language we had created for the marathon's inaugural year. Working closely with designer Virginia Brooks, we developed a range of branded clothing and gear that captured the spirit of the event and the city. The merchandise line reflected both the athletic achievement of marathon running and the scenic beauty of Chattanooga as a destination. Each piece was designed to serve as both functional gear for participants and lasting memorabilia that would promote the event long after race day ended.
