Creating a Brand for Athletes Beyond the Game

When we first met the team at OffCourt, we instantly connected with their energy and vision. This group included former college athletes turned content creators turned tech entrepreneurs, alongside Indiana Pacers small forward Aaron Nesmith, who brought insider insights and serious credibility to the project. They were solving a real gap: professional athletes, especially mid-tier NBA players, lacked a dedicated space to monetize their personal brands and forge meaningful connections with their most loyal fans.
We partnered with OffCourt to create a brand that would give athletes control over their narratives, income, and engagement while standing alongside NBA and WNBA players who are cultural tastemakers. The challenge was building a minimalist identity that elevated rather than overshadowed athlete personal brands. We developed a toggle-inspired logo as a visual metaphor for on-court spotlight versus off-court lifestyle, anchored in Swiss modernism with Helvetica Neue and a restrained black-and-white palette. The subscription-based platform enables athletes to offer exclusive content, merchandise drops, and direct interactions, moving beyond passive social media consumption toward authentic engagement. We designed comprehensive user experiences including athlete insights dashboards and seamless fan interactions, creating a movement that redefines the athlete-fan relationship while empowering mid-tier professional athletes to build sustainable careers beyond traditional sponsorships.
