Full-scale showroom design celebrating patterns from influential cities and sites
Whiteboard partnered with Mannington Commercial for the fourth consecutive year to transform their showroom space in Chicago's prestigious Merchandise Mart, creating an environment that would showcase new commercial flooring products in memorable and visually striking ways. The 2015 "Pattern of Place" concept drew inspiration from iconic cities and locations that influenced the year's product introductions—from LA's tire tracks to Tucson's desert cacti and Washington DC's urban grid systems. Our design approach celebrated pattern as a unifying element, reinterpreting each product's unique characteristics through sophisticated grey veneer displays that created cohesive flow throughout the space. Finnish pendant lights amplified the pattern theme while built-in storage solutions doubled as comfortable seating, encouraging longer client visits. The result was a showroom that felt like a curated gallery experience, where each product display told a story about place and pattern while maintaining the hospitality-focused atmosphere that helps close deals.
