Whiteboard partnered with Sarah Sherman Current and Alturas Ranches to develop a distinctive mark for Barron Legacy Ranch, a pioneering operation that stepped away from commercial cattle practices to embrace more sustainable and health-focused ranching methods. The ranch made a bold decision to move from super-sized commercial cattle to smaller-frame Australian breeds that thrive on grass-fed diets, producing perfectly-portioned steaks with exceptional marbling, tenderness, and flavor. The branding challenge was creating a mark that would work both as a visual identity and as an actual cattle brand—requiring simplicity, clarity, and authentic ranch heritage. Our design solution combined the "B" and "R" letterforms into a unified mark that captured the ranch's commitment to quality and tradition while being practical for hot-iron application. The result was more than just a logo; it was a genuine "brand" in every sense of the word, connecting the ranch's premium products to centuries of ranching tradition. This approach honored both the craft of traditional cattle branding and the innovative spirit of Barron Legacy Ranch's sustainable practices.
