Exhibition curation project exploring the networked relationships that shape design practice and visual culture
When Covenant College invited Whiteboard to curate the "six times six: 6x6" exhibition, we saw an opportunity to explore design not as isolated artifacts, but as a web of relationships and influences. Based on the theory that any person can be connected through six degrees of separation, this exhibition positioned design as fundamentally about human connections. Rather than selecting work based on individual projects, we invited participants entirely through the lens of creative relationships—collaborators, mentors, teachers, and students who had profound impact on one another's practice. The exhibition featured artifacts that ranged from overtly designed objects to more subtle interventions, but the focus remained on the people and relationships that sustain our visual culture. Centered in Chattanooga but reaching far beyond, 6x6 modeled the rich, complex networks that shape artistic practice and creative communities.
