Vietnam veteran and retired healthcare professional Viston Taylor needed design for Volume Three of his poetry collection, completing a trilogy that began in 2010 with a beautifully minimal aesthetic.
Whiteboard partnered with Viston Taylor to complete his poetry trilogy with Volume Three, building on a design foundation established over more than a decade. In 2010, our designer Grant Dotson created the look and feel for Viston's first volume of poetry - a beautifully minimal book design built to showcase the poetry and serve as a limited edition for friends and family. In 2017, designer Virginia Brooks built on Grant's structure for Volume Two, and finally in 2021, designer Emily Ricks completed Volume Three. Creating Volume Three proved challenging due to supply chain issues and high demand on binderies. The unavailability of the same text paper used in previous volumes meant that Adams Litho had to innovate, printing on plain paper to create the flecked stock effect of the older versions. Quality remained paramount for the world-class printers, and production issues were overcome to create a beautiful set of three poetry books that honor the work of this Lookout Mountain, Tennessee author.
